The Lost Mattress is a non-infamous episode of SpongeBob SquarePants. In this episode, SpongeBob, Patrick, and Squidward try to get back Mr. Krabs' lost mattress.
Why This Episode Gave Us So Much Back Pain?[]
- SpongeBob is unfairly yelled at by Mr. Krabs when he is in so much pain due to his mattress being stuffed with money.
- Squidward is an absolute jerk and a complete idiot throughout this whole episode. He takes the credit for SpongeBob and Patrick's work in finding a new mattress for Mr. Krabs. Yes, we get it, Squidward. Mr. Krabs is a bit of a tightwad, but could you at least find it in your heart to actually help him since he is in so much pain?
- Soon after SpongeBob and Patrick bought Mr. Krabs a new mattress, Squidward ruins everything by taking the credit for their hard work. How does he do it, you ask? I'll tell you how he does it. By writing down in the card that says, "This was all my idea. Love, Squidward." That's a lie, Squidward!! SpongeBob and Patrick were the ones who bought Mr. Krabs a new mattress, not you! You did absolutely nothing to help your boss! How dare you take credit for their hard work! To make matters worse, Squidward's also the one who threw Mr. Krabs's old mattress into the dump not realizing his entire savings are in it! Are you really that stupid, Squidward?! You've completely ruined SpongeBob and Patrick's good deed in helping Mr. Krabs!
- When a comatose Mr. Krabs was sent to the hospital, Squidward attempts to cover up his wrong doings by lying and pinning the blame on SpongeBob. Squidward, you spineless idiot! How dare you blame SpongeBob for something he never did on purpose! This whole mess was your fault, not SpongeBob's! Thankfully, there was a police officer who defended the little porous pal by revealing Squidward's lie through the card, thus making the cranky cephalopod solely responsible for everything. Squidward was then told that if Mr. Krabs doesn't survive, he will be charged for his death and will be given a life sentence in jail. This enraged Squidward so much that it drove him to the point of threatening the poor sponge with a death threat. No, I'm not kidding! He literally threatened poor SpongeBob that if he didn't get Mr. Krabs's mattress back from that dump, he will kill him. But thankfully, the police officer stopped him from doing so.
- The hospital staff, except for Administrator Flotsam, are a bit irresponsible in this scene. For they showed no care for Mr. Krabs's well-being at all. Especially that moronic nurse. Who hired her?!
- At the dump, SpongeBob, Patrick, and, well, Squidward, try to get the mattress full of money back to Mr. Krabs. But what SpongeBob and Patrick didn't know was that Squidward had no intention of returning the mattress to Mr. Krabs at all. He had a different plan. He wants to kill them. And I mean literally KILL THEM!!! And how was he going to do that?: by having the dump's guard worm maul them to death!
- The first thing he did was that he wanted to have them climb over the fence.
- His second attempt was to have them make loud noise to keep the guard worm away.
- His third and last attempt was his most heinous one yet. He tricks SpongeBob and Patrick into putting on steak outfits and spreading barbeque sauce onto themselves so that they'll look appetizing for the guard worm. He even lies to them that it is for Halloween and that they're trick-or-treating. Seriously, Squidward?! What did SpongeBob and Patrick ever do to deserve this?!
Redeemable yet healable qualities[]
- Due to being in so much pain, Mr. Krabs was kind enough to apologize to SpongeBob for yelling at him, which is very understandable for us.
- Before going into a coma, Mr. Krabs rightfully calls Squidward out for his incompetence since he was the one who threw the old mattress full of money into the dump in the first place.
- We are thankful that the police officer stopped Squidward from doing physical harm to SpongeBob.
- People like this episode because it has a lot of funny moments like Squidward getting attacked by the guard worm.
- The hospital scenes were actually funny despite the staff being irresponsible.
- SpongeBob and Patrick did actually help Mr. Krabs in this episode.
- Mr. Krabs does get his mattress back and is fully recovered from his coma.
- And to wrap things up, Squidward gets his well-deserved karma for the terrible things he did throughout the whole episode.
- The episode teaches viewers a very good moral: "Don't take credit for someone else's work."
How to fix this episode[]
- Have Mr. Krabs explain to SpongeBob that he keeps money inside the old mattress.
- Do a scene where SpongeBob tells Patrick about Mr. Krabs keeping money in his old mattress and then take them all out of it before going out to buy a new one. That way, stupid, old Squidward does not have to throw them all away to the dump!
- Do not let Squidward take credit for SpongeBob and Patrick's work.
Infamous Quotes[]

Patrick: (firmly) I knew it!
Police Officer: Not so fast! (holds up the card Squidward ruined) This card says "This was all my idea. Love, Squidward." (Squidward's eyes enlarged in shock, realizing that he's busted) If Mr. Krabs doesn't pull through, you're going to jail!
Squidward: (infuriated) D'uoh!! You did this, SquarePants! If you don't get Mr. Krabs' mattress back from the dump, I am going to murd... (officer clears his throat, looking angrily at Squidward; nervously chuckles) Uh, help you do it myself. Heh...
