The Googly Artiste is an infamous episode of SpongeBob SquarePants. In this episode, Patrick's artwork is coveted when an art critic reviews it.

Why This Episode Is So Googly (and not in a funny way)[]

  1. It's boring, rip off of Artist Unknown and Patty Hype, and it's Squidward torture done wrong.
  2. It's yet another lackluster Patrick episode. He somehow gets his effortless artwork popular. Meanwhile, Squidward's full-effort artwork gets panned and his beret is confiscated by that critic. It's not funny and it's frustrating.
  3. On the topic of the critic, who is called Frederick T. Nitpick, he's unlikeable and stupid.
  4. Bad Ending: Squidward gets blamed for ruining Mr. Krabs's business for NO REASON! He gets punished for giving Patrick art advice, even though Mr. Krabs added art advice to the menu just so Patrick could order it.

Redeeming Qualities[]

  • SpongeBob and Squidward are still likeable in this episode, and Patrick isn’t as bad here.
  • The episode could be considered relatively memorable.

Trivia[]

  • This episode premiered during the infamous event in July PW 2011.
  • Ironically, Awe considers this to be an example of a strong post-movie episode that takes place in one location, alongside 'Wishing You Well', 'Bucket Sweet Bucket' and 'Suction Cup Symphony'.[1]
