People hate this scene because Squidward was a huge unlikable jerk for caging the clams up and sending them to the chowder factory, not to mention that there is another SCUMBOB-infamous scene from the same episode right after this one. It's also considered animal abuse.

Squidward got karma for sending those poor clams to the chowder factory.
At least clams didn't end up dying unlike here
