Smoothe Jazz at Bikini Bottom is a low SCUMBOB!-Infamous episode of SpongeBob SquarePants, airing in September 30, 2011. In this episode, Squidward and SpongeBob have a bad time at a Kelpy G concert.
Why This Episode Is Not Smoothe, But Scum[]
- First things first, it's yet, clearly obvious. ANOTHER SQUIDWARD TORTURE EPISODE! Typical as it's enough, right?
- This is also one of those episodes that show favoritism towards SpongeBob and unfairly denying Squidward of anything. Case in point, SpongeBob (while pretty talented at the ukulele) gets a ticket from a single call while Squidward gets nothing.
- Patrick's appearance is really pointless. Yet again, he's an antagonistic jerk who screws everything up by eating Squidward and SpongeBob's passes and gets them kicked out of the concert. Eating objects has been the norm for him, and the previous ticket 'was' shoved into his mouth by accident, but later he just outright snatched the pass out of Squidwards hands robbing him, then also snatching Spongebob's pass as well. Robbing Squidward of his chance to see the show by eating his ticket and chance to meet his hero by eating both Squidward and SpongeBob's back stage passes is just too far.
- In fact, this is the 3rd episode in a row that Patrick causes constant problems for others in.
- Also, how did Patrick get into the concert? Oh, wait. Now I know. HE POOPED OUT THE TICKETS HE ATE TO GET INSIDE!!! THAT IS SO GROTESQUE and UNHYGIENIC!!! Or he simply snuck inside, but who knows?
- This episode is a waste of a good atmosphere, and it's only made worse when Jerky Patrick is horribly unimportant and pointless here.
- Patrick has not even received his comeuppance for eating SpongeBob and Squidward's tickets and backstage passes. So why didn't the security guards kick him out instead of Squidward?
- Horrible ending: SpongeBob plays with Kelpy G on-stage while Squidward gets kicked out of the concert again by security with Squidward shouting "But I'm a musician!" as the episode ends. Again, this just shows more favoritism towards SpongeBob.
Redeeming Qualities That Are Very Smoothe[]
- SpongeBob is a very good character in this episode, unlike many seasons 6-8 episodes. He is likable throughout the whole episode and it was nice for Kelpy G. to bring SpongeBob as his special guest for his concert as he is pretty good at the ukulele, but it would of been nice for Kelpy to take notice of Squidward as well.
- At least SpongeBob was nice enough to give Squidward his backstage pass before it was eaten by Patrick.
- Great concept, even though it was executed poorly.
- In addition, it is nice to see Kelpy G. in the series again.
- SpongeBob's cross eyed face while talking on the telephone is funny.
- The beginning of the episode is mostly good, but doesn't help the fact this episode went downhill fast with Patrick acting like a jerk later.
- The music does sound really good in the episode.
- Patrick thankfully only plays a supporting role.
How To Fix The Episode?[]
- SpongeBob is usually considered to be a comedy show, but you can think about it, this is one of those episodes that don't really need to be funny because of the good atmosphere (especially this episode has the jazz music), so why not remove Patrick's pointless appearance from the story so that he wasn't just here for sake of the stupid jokes?
