Pet or Pests is a HYPER-infamous episode SpongeBob SquarePants. In this episode, SpongeBob adopts a stray worm who gives birth to worm babies overnight.
AIR DATE FOR THIS EPISODE: MARCH 19, 2009
Why It's Not a Pet, But A Pest (NO PUN INTENDED)[]
- This episode is a rip-off of "Chocolate with Nuts," where SpongeBob becomes a salesman.
- The episode is really gross and lacks any humor.
- The stray worm (who SpongeBob and Patrick name Mr. Wormsley, soon Mrs. Wormsley) has, with out a doubt, one of the most creepiest designs and looks nothing like a worm. In addition to her having fairly long insect-like legs at the bottom (which doesn't make sense considered that worms don't have legs), her face looks WAY too out-of-place and looks like a completely different animal.
- Mrs. Wormsley's babies are also very gross despite being given such cute voices made for them.
- The scene where Mrs. Wormsley giving birth all the while howling is really disgusting and out-of-place in a SpongeBob episode.
- Gary chases away Mrs. Wormsley and makes her abandon her babies. He also has no remorse and gets no comeuppance for his actions.
- Patrick refuses to help SpongeBob find a new home for the baby worms and leaves him to handle them for the rest of the episode.
- There's even a somewhat harsh scene where Mr. Krabs angrily tells SpongeBob to take the worms out of his restaurant for spitting goo at him (though the latter was somewhat correct about it), resulting to SpongeBob crying.
- The humor in this episode is bad as well. Aside from the fact that most of the episode doesn't even have any comedy, there's one gag that goes on way too long and just exists for filler's sake: SpongeBob ringing the doorbell at Mrs. Puff's house FOR THE WHOLE 36 SECONDS. We wish we were joking.
- Continuity error: Larry appears to have no idea who SpongeBob is, despite the two being friends in older episodes.
- Speaking of Larry, there's the infamous scene where he was going to eat all of the baby worms due to raw protein, and keep in mind that worms are supposed to be dogs in the series, so that would've meant that Larry almost ate newborn puppies, which is gross, inhumane and apathetic.
- Stupid ending: When a garbage man says that these worms are valuable and worth a fortune, Mr. Krabs sells them for six dollars, even though he wanted nothing to do with the baby worms a moment earlier, though he would do this because he loves money.
Redeeming Qualities[]
- The scene where Mrs. Wormsly brushes her head on SpongeBob's hand is a very sweet moment.
- There are a few funny moments such as Patrick telling SpongeBob "Something tells me that Mr. Wormsley is actually...a Mrs. Wormsley!".
- SpongeBob, Squidward and Mrs. Puff were likeable.
- The track "Killer Birds" returned after 2 years.
Trivia[]
