"Mr. Krabs: (steals random things including a light bulb) Aha! Top of the morning, boys! (laughs nervously, the cops walk off) Whew! Next stop: gift shop."

― Mr. Krabs during his "Free Day" crime spree as he steals random things at the Bikini Bottom Zoo in disguise.

The Mr. Krabs' "Free Day" crime spree scene is an infamous scene in the super-famous episode, The Smoking Peanut.

Why This Scene Makes You Want to Throw Peanuts At Mr. Krabs?[]

In the beginning of the episode, we see a few moments where Mr. Krabs is stealing random things at the Bikini Bottom Zoo in disguise. Things like balloons, drinks, and light bulbs from lampposts. After barely escaping from getting caught, he then goes on to steal stuff from the gift shop. Mr. Krabs was never seen again throughout most of the episode until the ending. But episode went on, the following events will foreshadow his most heinous crime that became the main plot device. SpongeBob and Patrick were minding their own business having a fun day at the zoo. But when they went to go take a look at Clamu, that's when things get shaky. SpongeBob attempts to wake the oyster up by throwing a harmless, little peanut at her. The oyster does eventually wake up. And here comes the startling part. The oyster becomes frantically upset upon seeing that her pearl has gone missing from her pen! Which resulted in the poor creature to unleash a powerful wail of sadness! YES!!! That's right! Mr. Krabs stole Clamu's pearl while she was sound asleep! And no one knows a thing about it!! Kind of reminds us of the moment the ringmaster separated Dumbo from Mrs. Jumbo, in the Walt Disney film, "Dumbo", doesn't it?! Well, this is exactly what Mr. Krabs did! He separated a mother from her child by kidnapping!! And that's just sick of him to do so!! How could he be so low to do that since he's a father himself?! Anyway, as the episode went on, everyone came to the conclusion that the peanut was the cause of the oyster's pain. Including SpongeBob himself since he was the one who threw it in the first place. As a result, he endured so much torture it was as if everyone around him were interrogating him like he was a criminal! SpongeBob, it wasn't your fault. You had nothing to do with the oyster's loss of her pearl. So, there was nothing you could've done. Squidward, Sandy, and practically most of the Bikini Bottomites endured some bits of torture too since they couldn't take the oyster's loud crying and took pity towards the poor creature. Patrick endured some torture as well because he was framed for Mr. Krabs's crimes. What the (dolphin chirps), you idiot cops?! Patrick has done no wrong! He's innocent!

Redeemable qualities[]

  • The zookeeper arrives at the very last second to prove SpongeBob and Patrick's innocence.
  • The part where he rips off Mr. Krabs clothes and yells "Behold!!" is still very funny. And due to that moment, it became a meme on the internet.
  • Clamu's pearl is returned, which would then hatch into a baby oyster! Aww!!!
  • During that sweet moment, Clamu and the baby share a big hug.
  • After that tender moment between the mother and her baby, SpongeBob and Patrick were cleared of all charges.
  • To wrap things up, Mr. Krabs gets his well-deserved karma for stealing the pearl and separating Clamu from her baby. Yeah, how do you like that, Mr. Krabs?! It serves you right for separating a mother from her child!
