Married to Money is a semi-infamous episode of SpongeBob SquarePants. In this episode, Plankton disguises as a money girl so that Mr. Krabs can marry him and give Plankton the secret formula.

Why It Needs To Get Divorced[]

The story is very unoriginal. We'd already had three rip-offs of "Imitation Krabs" before this episode was premiered AND THOSE WERE ALL IN THE SAME SEASON!!! Those episodes are "Someone's in the Kitchen with Sandy", "Gramma's Secret Recipe", and "Shellback Shenanigans" in Season 7. And yeah, they really did another one of these episodes again. It's not only another definite rip-off of "Imitation Krabs", but also the fifth episode about Plankton disguising himself as something else to get the Krabby Patty formula. Just how many times do we really need this plot until they finally stop reusing it?!

People also call this episode ScumBob because it gets progressively creepier as it goes on in a similar way to "To Love a Patty". Both of them are about a character falling in love with a stuff, so this one can count as objectophilia! There's also an episode called "Money Talks", which is about the relationship between Mr. Krabs and money. Technically, you also can say it's a rip-off of "Money Talks".

This episode's content is pretty boring. It's just lots of filler, like Pearl's role (depending on your view), and the part that SpongeBob, Patrick, and Squidward decorate the Krusty Krab (which has already been done in "Truth or Square") for Mr. Krabs' wedding. The comedy is very poor and unfunny, like the annoying running gag with Mr. Krabs getting electrocuted every time he kisses Cashina.

The ending of this episode is severely depressing. Mr. Krabs really looks destroyed at the end... As a romance plot, this is actually one of the worst! Besides, it's also predictable because, as mentioned above, this episode is another rehash of "Imitation Krabs". We can know Plankton's plan for getting the Krabby Patty formula will eventually fail. And after that, a doorman comes in and only to say Mr. Krabs has to tip him even though he also tries to console Mr. Krabs. It just makes this episode fade out without any further thoughts.

However, while Mr. Krabs does nothing wrong this time, this episode is based on his greed again. Get this, he loves money and nothing else in this episode! There's also a plot hole for the premise, hasn't Mr. Krabs had a romantic relationship with Mrs. Puff? So yeah, this one, combined with "Summer Job", really make "Krusty Love" pointless...

Good qualities[]

  • Sea Bears return in this episode from the famous episode, "The Camping Episode".
  • Depending on your view, Pearl's role in this episode is funny.
  • This was Mr. Krabs karma for what he did to Plankton in One Coarse Meal.

Trivia[]

  • It's paired up with "The Fish Bowl", which is another infamous episode.
  • 22tigerdude gave this episode a 4/10, and his reason for hating it was because he felt it was a rehash of "To Love a Patty", not "Imitation Krabs".
