Lockdown for Love is an semi-infamous episode of SpongeBob SquarePants. In this episode, Karen locks Plankton inside the Chum Bucket for romance reasons, which don't even feel like they are.
Why It's a Lockdown for Torture
Some people dislike this episode because Karen's a hypocrite, Plankton's a bad husband, and Eugene Krabs is a blind moron who doesn't notice his formula has fallen off his car.
- Karen has been severly flanderized from a computer wife who supports her husband's goals in life, to a selfish hypocrite who only cares about attention and goes out of her way to LITERALLY LOCK HIM IN HIS OWN HOUSE.
- Plankton has become a terrible husband who only cares about the goddamn formula, instead of being with Karen. Can he get any worse?
- Eugene Krabs didn't even notice that his one ticket to the good life had fallen off his car and didn't care until the last 5 minutes. Does this guy need glasses or something?
- Actually, the answer is YES, HE NEEDS GLASSES! When Mr. Krabs is knocking the Chum Bucket's door (by the way, does he really think Plankton would let him in?), he doesn't see the formula, even though it's next to him.
- What makes this worse is that the digital copy of the secret formula, WHICH KAREN TOOK AGES TO PERFECT, was deleted. KAREN, THAT TOOK YOU YEARS TO COMPLETE AND YOU END UP DELETING IT!?!? ARE YOU THIS CRAZY ON YOUR HUSBAND'S ATTENTION LIKE FREAKING AMY FROM SONIC!??!
- The ending was the most disturbing, as Karen had Plankton CHAINED TO HIS CHAIR on a hot-air balloon. NOW I KNOW SHE HAS GONE MAD!!
- Also, Karen doesn't care one bit about how Plankton feels about her treatment towards him.
- This episode ignores the events of Plankton's Good Eye, F.U.N, etc. This means that Karen's a hypocrite, as she cares about Plankton paying attention to her and not the formula, even though she helped him in those episodes to get the formula.
- Karen never gets any comeuppance for her bad treatment and forced date night, making her a Karma Houdini.
- Plankton is just dumb at the end when not being able to get the formula through the hole.
- Plankton was also dumb when he tried to be near from Karen when she was about to tell Patrick the secret formula, since he was 100% able to hear her and even if not, Karen had the formula copied so he could've just waited to change with Patrick and then asked Karen.
- Patrick's disguise is pretty obvious, and even if it's made on purpose to make him easy to distinguish, it's weird to watch this episode with Karen thinking Patrick is Plankton even when it's obvious that he's Patrick yet Karen fall for it, thus making her a also an idiot which her idiocy is worse than her goddamn idiocy in One Coarse Meal.
- The jokes aren't really funny. The funniest scene of the episode was literally just Patrick stupidly picking the wrong bottle.
- The facial expressions the characters make were very exaggerated.
Redeeming Qualities
- The Plankton and Patrick dynamic was cool.
- The Plankton-Karen relationship, even though it was ruined.
- The episode had a creative idea, it's just not well executed.
- Karen might have been hypocritical about the formula but she has a point over her husband not spending enough time with her, despite being clingy.
- Plankton got his comeuppance from ditching his wife, even though he didn't deserve that kind of punishment
- Patrick was actually enjoyable and tolerable in the episode.
