Why It’s Scam Island[]
People call it ScumBob because it is boring and stupid, SpongeBob acts jerky to Sandy for no reason, and "Karate" is used incorrectly here as seen in this episode. The way Sandy defeats the guys are pretty odd and stupid too.
Redeeming Qualities[]
It's action-packed as well.
SpongeBob does apologize for his behavior.
The late Pat Morita did a good job at voicing Master Udon.

Pat Morita’s lines were able to be recorded on time before his death in 2005 while this episode aired in 2006, and it is dedicated in his memory. The dedication was unfortunately cut from later U.S. broadcasts and Paramount+ versions, it is however left intact on international broadcasts, the Season 4 Volume 2 DVD, and Netflix.
