Grandma's Kisses is an infamous episode[1] SquarePants. In this episode, after being humiliated for being kissed by his grandma, SpongeBob decides to act like a grown-up.
Why It Will Never Give You Kisses[]
Some of the other citizens of Bikini Bottom clearly have never been kissed on the forehead by their own grandmas, and that alone makes it okay for them to make fun of SpongeBob for it?! Patrick teaches him how to act like a grownup, but hypocritically betrays him afterwards which causes him to fly into a meltdown. But the ending is THE WORST OF THEM ALL! Which is also proves that not only are they bullies, but also stalkers! Terrible...
Not even Squidward gets any of his karma trips as that's what we call them if he's being a jerk to SpongeBob and Patrick, and his backfired attempts to be one towards them as well.
It even contains two SCUMBOB!-infamous scenes:
- The extremely infamous ending where the Bikini Bottomites, including Squidward, watch SpongeBob from outside their house, proving they aren't just bullies, they're also stalkers, which can get them arrested in real life!
- The very infamous scene in the Krusty Krab where the Bikini Bottomites mock SpongeBob, and some people say this scene is even worse than Fools in April and Little Yellow Book.
Some people however do like this episode because they feel that it is relatable and Grandma SquarePants is really kind...
Redeeming Qualities That Give You Kisses[]
Both SpongeBob and Grandma SquarePants are still likable. This episode is at least relatable. It is very sweet seeing the connection between Grandma SquarePants and SpongeBob in this episode. Patrick also isn't too much of a jerk as he does help SpongeBob at least.
Squidward also gets his instant karma in "The Camping Episode" and "Just One Bite".
How to make this episode give you kisses[]
- Have SpongeBob talk to Mr. Krabs about the kiss mark.
- Have Mr. Krabs chastise Squidward (and the Krusty Krab patrons) for bullying SpongeBob.
- Get rid of the part where SpongeBob have a massive temper tantrum and just end the episode.
Reception[]
Pieguyrulz classifies this as a "good episode", saying it's enjoyable if you are a kid and gets even more enjoyable the older you get. However, the ending is negatively criticized (albeit overwhelmingly) due to a relation to real-life bullying and its variations. So, BE WARNED when you're watching this.
