Gramma's Secret Recipe is a low infamous episode of SpongeBob SquarePants. In this episode, Plankton disguises as his grandma to steal the Krabby Patty secret formula.

Why It's a Scum Recipe[]

People call it ScumBob because it's a rip-off of "Imitation Krabs". What makes this thing even more repetitive, is that we've already had "Someone's in the Kitchen with Sandy", which episode is another "Imitation Krabs" clone, too.

Another reason for its infamy is due to its VERY boring and unfunny content. Most of the episode is just SpongeBob doing something (which is unnecessary to this episode) with his "old great-grammyma", like the part about SpongeBob showing his old family photo albums, and the "Grandma's Tea House" part, really take forever. There's a plot hole, how does SpongeBob NOT realize that's not his "great grammyma"? That makes no sense because both of them are not even the same species!

Speaking of "makes no sense", let's talk about the ending twist. How does Plankton's grandma show up in Mr. Krabs' safe? The answer is unknown. The only thing we can know is that she just pops out from nowhere, and as mentioned above, it makes no sense, either!

Not to speak of, this episode is called "Gramma's Secret Recipe", but there is no such thing as "Gramma's Secret Recipe" in this episode! If you ask it, yeah, it's actually misleading. It should've been named "Imitation Gramma" or "Someone's in the Kitchen with Gramma", which might be even more appropriate!

There is one instance where SpongeBob acts like a toddler. He is playing in the bathtub and squirts water using his hands into his holes and then the water hits a bar of soap. SpongeBob then plays with the bar of soap.

To make matters worse, it is paired up with the extremely infamous The Cent of Money.

This could be confused with Grandmum's the Word!

Good Qualities[]

  • The opening scene where Plankton is with his grandma is cute and heartwarming, and it's similar to some episodes which have the scenes where SpongeBob is with his grandmother, like "Grandma's Kisses" and "Pet Sitter Pat".
  • While it's a load of filler, SpongeBob showing his old family photo albums is kind of cute. (depending on your view)
  • While the ending twist is sort of nonsensical, at least Plankton does get his comeuppance for impersonating his grandmother, even if it doesn't excuse ripping off "Imitation Krabs".
  • Some things are funny, like when the nurse says, “Five minutes until bedtime, Mr. Plankton.” and then is about to tell him again, before being interrupted by Plankton yelling, “I heard you the first time!” and when they are in the Tea House and Plankton yells, “How can anyone drink this dreck?!”
