Fools in April is a semi-infamous episode[1] of SpongeBob SquarePants. In this episode, Squidward plays a nasty prank on SpongeBob.

Why Only Fools Would Want to Watch This ScumBob in April[]

Squidward is tired of SpongeBob pulling off silly pranks to amuse the customers since it happens to be April Fools Day, so what does he do? Nothing worth getting the audience's panties in a twist except for this:

Squidward pulls an over-the-top and elaborate snare deathtrap for SpongeBob to be lured into, but once the weight comes falling; the real purpose of the deathtrap comes into play. He gets slammed into flour which would cause blindness, flipped around on a beam which would cause abrasions, thrown into the top of the wall which would cause blunt force trauma, smashed into another fish who was unaware of the chaos that followed which would harm the bystander, launched up to the ceiling which would cause bone fractures and it all ends with landing in a garbage can; which you guessed it, would cause broken bones due to the stuffing not being enough to soften the impact from a long fall. It also made Spongebob cry and afraid of Squidward and he even meant to make him cry and meant to torture him physically as a prank.

Squidward even tried to hurt SpongeBob's feelings and hurt him physically, and doesn't even apologize until the end of the episode!!!

Also, get this infamous line: "Why is it that whenever I have fun, it's wrong?". HE KNOWS THAT HE'S TORTURING SPONGEBOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Redeeming Qualities[]

At least Squidward apologizes to SpongeBob for his jerky nature unlike A umm... certain episode, but after SpongeBob reveals he told everyone about what happened, he withdraws it, calling it another April Fools prank. Also, the scene where Squidward laughs hysterically, despite being directed to SpongeBob, has become a reaction meme.

The pranks that SpongeBob pull are harmless and goofy

Quotes[]

  • Incidental 71: "April Fools, jerk."
  • Mrs. Tentacles: "You stink!"
  • Squidward: “April Fools, you little sausage!”
