Squidward Ink SQUIDWARD TORTURE!
This contains torture to Squidward Tentacles, so if you're a fan of him, look away NOW.

Cephalopod Lodge is an extremely low HYPER-infamous episode[1] of SpongeBob SquarePants In this episode, SpongeBob & Patrick accidentally got Squidward banished from his secret lodge. So they try to create a new club for him.

AIR DATE FOR THIS EPISODE: FEBRUARY 17, 2009

Why Should This Lodge Be Cancelled & Out Of Business:[]

  • This is one of the many episodes in Seasons 6-7 that is unfairly cruel towards Squidward; he is kicked out from the Cephalopod Lodge, is kidnapped by SpongeBob & Patrick who then get him to taste the stings of a jellyfish for the "initiation" of their so-called "lodge", is kicked out once again when SpongeBob & Patrick are revealed to be controlling the giant sock, & then has to taste the stings of a jellyfish again.
  • SpongeBob & Patrick's investigation on Squidward are because he's happy, & that's it. Why would they care if he is? Most likely, SpongeBob & Patrick were looking for an excuse to invade Squidward's privacy.
  • Speaking of which, SpongeBob & Patrick, being the typical morons they are, are even more annoying & troublesome than usual & act very unfair towards Squidward; their foolishness gets Squidward kicked out, they constantly annoyingly request him to join their lodge, & then straight-up kidnap him & force him to taste the stings of a jellyfish for the "initiation" of their lodge.
  • After Squidward gets kicked out of the lodge, instead of apologizing, SpongeBob flatly asks "Do we get to join the lodge?"
  • The club scenes with SpongeBob & Patrick can be rather irritating at times, especially both scenes of Squidward being forced to taste the stings of a jellyfish. Not even the Taiwanese Chinese subtitles would fix this predicament.
  • The recurring jokes of Squidward getting kicked out of the Cephalopod Lodge as well as SpongeBob & Patrick constantly trying to get Squidward to join their lodge go on too long.
  • As stated above, there's a scene where SpongeBob & Patrick kidnap Squidward directly to get him into his "lodge initiation", against his will, which is coercion.
  • Spongebob & Patrick get off scot-free for tormenting Squidward, making them Karma Houdinis (Idiot Houdinis in this case).
  • Bad ending: SpongeBob & Patrick decide they want to help Squidward. They come up with a plan to dress up in a giant sock to resemble a Moray Eel, the nemesis of the lodge members so that they can scare the lodge members while Squidward "saves" them. Their plan works, & Squidward is allowed back in. However, when SpongeBob & Patrick take off the sock & reveal themselves to give their congratulations, Squidward is once again kicked out of the lodge. SpongeBob & Patrick decide to go back to the "their lodge" idea, but first, they need to redo the "initiation" on Squidward. Thank goodness it's all off-screen, Nickelodeon saved us again.

How to fix this episode:[]

  • Have Mr. Krabs send Spongebob to follow Squidward instead of having him decided to follow him on his own. Perhaps Krabs is worried that Squidward is going to quit. Maybe have Krabs threaten to fire SpongeBob if he doesn't obey him, this would make SpongeBob's actions more sympathetic.
  • Portray Roger (and by extension, Leader) as the antagonist. Have him be a lazy jerk who carelessly allows SpongeBob & Patrick into the Lodge & then uses Squidward as a scapegoat.
  • Change the ending so that Squidward is allowed back into the Lodge for good (BIGGEST CHANGE NEEDED!).
    • For bonus points, have Roger (and by extension, Leader) get kicked out at the ending instead of Squidward as karma for his sleazy attitude.
    • Maybe have the initiation with jellyfish tongue electrocution at the ending when Squidward still gets to join the lodge at the end (Depending on your view).

Redeeming Qualities:[]

  1. Squidward is the only likable character here.
  2. Patrick was sort of right that it was Roger's fault that they got into the lodge since he's the door guard.
  3. SpongeBob & Patrick using a giant live-action sock to disguise themselves as a monster to get Squidward back into the lodge near the end was pretty cool & funny.
  4. SpongeBob & Patrick at least feel bad for Squidward & try to restore his rank in the lodge.
  5. The initiation clip could be funny for some viewers (Depending on your view).
  6. Lots of jokes in this episode are funny.

Reception:[]

Cephalopod Lodge is considered as one of the worst episode of the show along with the episodes One Coarse Meal, SpongeBob You're Fired, Waiting, Stuck in the Wringer, Truth or Square, The Splinter, Choir Boys, WhoBob WhatPants, Ink Lemonade, Face Freeze!, To Love a Patty, Dear Vikings, The Card, A Pal for Gary, Little Yellow Book, Squirrel Jelly & Big Sister Sam.

Trivia[]

  • Ironically, this episode is paired up with the ULTRA-famous episode "Grandpappy the Pirate". Even more ironic is that this episode is the complete opposite of that, because this episode is ScumBob-infamous.
